Well, sorry i haven't posted in awhile, but I've been pretty busy. We went to Virginia for a week to visit our family. dadi's brother and his wife and four kids live there and we went for one of my nephews baptism. it was a nice trip and it was so fun to just hang out and visit with the family. dadi's mom and dad came and so did another brother and his wife and baby. we had a nice time though the plane ride wasn't too fun. The trip there was okay. moma did pretty good and only got cranky a couple of times. the bad part about the trip there was that i totally got air sick on the landing and had to use a barf bag. i was so embarrassed!! the lady in the isle across from us was handing dadi napkins to help us out a bit. i made it all in the bag, but the napkins did come in handy so we thanked her. another bad thing was that i was sitting right next to another lady so she had to sit on the plane stuck next to this barfing girl for the last 20 minutes of the flight. i felt so bad. i apologized and she was very understanding but i still felt horrible. oh, and one of the worst things ever, and i can't believe I'm going to post this, but you know when you're throwing up, your body convulses and it's pretty violent, well.... i tooted!!! dadi said he didn't hear it, but i think he was just trying to spare me the extra humiliation of the whole situation!! okay, too much information, i know. sorry!
the plane ride back home was miserable. moma would NOT fall asleep and she was so fussy. dadi and i were frustrated and tired and she was frustrated and tired. it was horrible. when we finally landed in L.A., we were so over it and just glad to be home but the lame people in Houston from our connecting flight didn't put our stroller on the plane so we had to walk all the way down to baggage claim carrying a grumpy girl and our carry on's and then try and get our suit cases as well. i filed a claim and the stroller was delivered the next day but it was so not fun for us. the manager said that in the 20 years he's worked for the airline, he has never seen them not put the strollers under the plane. of course it would happen to us!!
Once we got to Virginia, we were so happy to be there and not on a plane. moma played with her cousins and she just loved them all so much. they really kept her entertained and i felt kind of like i had the week off!! dadi's parents were staying in williamsburg which is about an hour from where we were at in Richmond. so on Thursday night after his other brother and his family arrived from Utah, we went and drove out there for the evening. they had an indoor pool and jacuzzi at the resort so we all took our swim suits and had fun swimming and relaxing. i will have to post some pictures but i need to load them on the computer first. dadi and both of his brothers decided that they wouldn't shave for about a month prior to the trip so that when they all got together they would be super hairy and have beards. They were all pretty scraggly looking, but dadi definitely was the hairiest of them all. The night we went to williamsburg, the guys stayed back at the condo and shaved and met us down at the pool later. but.... they didn't shave to make themselves look like normal, they each shaved weird shapes into their beards and because dadi shaves his head completely, he thought it would be funny to shave just the top of his head and leave the sides. so here we are swimming in the pool and in walk the three brothers, dadi looked just like Dr. Phil (seriously) because he had shaved just the top of his head and left a mustache from his facial hair. it was very weird to see what he is going to look like in about 25 or 30 years. it aged him so much. i will post some pictures later of the boys. dadi still has his mustache right now and will have it for another week or two. he told some of his friends that he would leave it until they saw him and they are going to see him next week. i hate it in the mean time though. I'm starting to get used to it but i won't admit that to dadi. he went from looking like Dr. Phil to looking like earl (Jason Lee) he has a big old fuzzy thing on his lip. he's crazy! but that's why i married him. I'm always entertained.
during our stay in Virginia, we went to the state capitol and got there just in time to have a guided tour. it was free so that was nice. it was very interesting to be in a building with so much history. so many super important people have been inside that building. very cool.
we celebrated a late Christmas with everyone and we all got some cool gifts. our nephew was baptized and it was so great to be able to be there to support him. on Sunday night we had a big family dinner that my sister in law made for us. she works in the mission home and they make this big "Virginia style" dinner for the missionaries when they come out there for their mission. it started with peanut soup. it was very very good. I've never had peanut soup before and I'm sure most of you reading this haven't had it either. it was super yummy and we had to have seconds. the meal was a Virginia ham, corn pudding, sweet potato casserole, spinach salad, and cheesy potatoes (funeral potatoes for all my LDS readers) okay, so now i feel the need to explain that..... Mormons like to make these cheesy potatoes at just about every function there is in the Mormon church, but they're mostly made at funerals since potatoes are a "comfort" sort of food so they have become known as "funeral potatoes". they're really good.
anyways, that's about all i can type about our trip. it was very fun and I'm super sad that we had to leave everyone. i miss everyone a lot.
This week is going to be busy for me. i still need to unpack and do laundry. we've been home for almost a week so it's a little ridiculous that i haven't unpacked yet. hopefully i will get to it soon. there's just a lot going on right now. okay, I'll try and be better with my posts, that way I'm not so long winded!!

Glad you're back and posting! I'm in Utah again. Sorry I didn't call you back, I was totally sick (see my blog) and out of touch with reality. I will call when I get home!
Hey! That was a very entertaining vacation story! Sorry that you got sick but happy you had a good time!
I have been totally craving funeral potatoes! You're so lucky. We bought the stuff to make them but have been a little slow on the execution. Bonnie always called them party potatoes!
You are so funny! I'm glad you guys had a great time! Any snow while you were there? I LOVE funeral potatoes too. Why do I only eat them there? Jaime maybe I'll come over and make it for you if I can have a bite...
