Weekend

So Friday started off with a doctors appointment for moma. she had been complaining when i would change her diaper that her "pee pee" hurt so i wanted to take her in and see if there was something wrong. so the doctor looked and said that she was a little bit irritated and to lay off the baby wipes for a few days until she could heal. she wanted to get a urine sample to make sure that she didn't have a bladder infection. she told me that they would have to insert a catheter. that didn't make me happy and i started crying. the doctor said that it wouldn't hurt her at all and that she would only be scared and crying because she would have to be held down. so they come in to do the procedure and me and one other nurse try holding her down while the other nurse inserts the catheter. well, we couldn't hold her down, so they had to get another nurse as well. it was so traumatic. then the nurse ends up not being able to insert in and has to go and get a more skilled nurse to do it. so basically, the whole thing sucked and was very sad and scary. i was crying, moma was crying. we were both sweating and i felt like throwing up and passing out. it was horrible. then all day long and on Saturday when she had to go pee pee, she would cry and scream and wouldn't go at all. i would have to put her in the bath tub and let her go in there because it was so painful for her. she was swollen and sore and it's all because the first nurse couldn't get it in there and was hurting her. i have felt guilty ever since even though i know it had to be done to be sure she didn't have a bladder infection. the first test showed that she was fine but they did send the urine to the lab for more tests to be sure. we'll hear about those sometime in the next day or so. it was not a fun day.
Saturday we woke up early and went looking for a dresser at garage sales. we didn't find one. there weren't very many sales out there. probably because it's Easter weekend. so Saturday afternoon, we went over to dadi's cousins house (p & v's) for lunch and an Easter egg hunt. we practiced with moma before we went over by hiding a few eggs around the house and having her put them in her basket. so when she saw the eggs in the grass over at their house, she knew exactly what to do. it was a fun day.
Sunday we woke up and got ready really early for the day. my mom, her boyfriend and my sister came over at 8:00 for an Easter egg hunt and breakfast. we didn't bring moma down until they got there so she just stayed up stairs watching TV with us. when they got there, we brought her down and gave her the basket and head her find all the eggs that the Easter bunny had left while we watched. she had a really fun time. i made french toast from a recipe that my sister in law gave me and it was so freaking good. it's a brown sugar and cinnamon french toast made from fresh french bread. you let it sit over night and then bake it in the oven the next morning. it seriously is like a cinnamon roll. we didn't have to put anything on it. i also made bacon and eggs and we had milk and orange juice. my sister and my mom both gave moma an Easter basket so she got a bunch of fun stuff. she got some egg shaped sidewalk chalk, an outfit and a no spill bubble bucket. she got some other stuff too. they left around 10:00 and then we prepared our lessons for church. we went to church and had a nice time. our lessons went well. it was a beautiful day yesterday. i don't know exactly how hot it got, but the forecast said it would be 80. i think it was hotter than that though. we turned on our new a/c and the house was so nice and cool. it was great. especially when you come home from church. you're always so hot in church clothes. i feel sorry for the boys since they wear long pants and ties and stuff.
anyways, that's it for this weekend. it was a good Easter. moma is being a little stinker today and not listening so well. it's driving me nuts. i think she may have to go down early for her nap so that mommy can remain sane.

Sounds like you guys had fun for Easter. But that catheter story is horrible!! I'd feel the same way- sick inside if I had to do that to my girl. Poor Moma!!

I am glad your Easter was still good. I had catheters as a child regularly until I was 6 or 7 and had surgery to correct the problem and they are not fun. I hope she feels better!
