Okay so here's the latest updates on the awesome family fun front. First of all, moma had a great time at the circus on Sunday the 27th of July. she went with my mom and sister and they had the best time. when the circus started, she was jumping up and down and dancing and she kept hugging my mom and sister. they said it was adorable. I'm sad i missed it. they got some cotton candy which came with a big top hat that she still wears and plays with. my mom had box seats along with her boss from work and everyone got a big kick out of how excited moma was about the whole thing. one of the other families in the box bought moma a snow cone that came in a big elephant shaped cup. it's a big blue elephant with a hole in his back where the snow cone was. she got it all over her shirt, but had a good time eating it and now she plays with the elephant all the time. she also likes to talk about how the real elephants took big poops out on the circus floor!!
can't remember what we did on Monday, but Tuesday is a day i will remember for a long time. i was sitting there holding baby g in the late morning and moma was playing in the kitchen when everything started shaking really bad. yep.... it was an earthquake in case you haven't heard. it was a 5.4 and was centered only about 20 miles from here so we really felt it good. i jumped up, yelled momas name and she ran towards me with big scared eyes, i picked her up in one arm and the baby was in the other and we went under the door jam in the bathroom. it was nuts. it lasted kind of a long time. everything just kept rolling and all i could think of was "please don't let it be the big one!! not when dadi's not home with us!" after the earthquake, moma was super hyper. i think she thought it was fun or something. later she kept saying "mommy... i think the shakin's coming!" and "mommy... you scared me in the door" meaning i scared her when i grabbed her and ran to the door jam. anyways, the cell phones and most land lines were out for a couple of hours. i knew dadi was probably okay since it wasn't a huge earthquake, but it was still frustrating to not be able to get a hold of him. it was the biggest earthquake I've felt in my life and I've lived here forever. the reason is because i slept through a couple of really big ones when i was a little kid so i don't remember them. i have felt earthquakes before but they have been smaller and not as long so they didn't freak me out. i think I'm more freaked out by it because I'm a mom now. you think about the kids first when you're a parent and so i was just wanting to make sure they were safe. plus, there was a possibility it was a fore-shock and that a bigger one was coming so it's a little nerve racking sitting around wondering if a bigger one is on it's way.
anyways, on Thursday night, we had a really good night with a really sucky ending. we went to my moms house for dinner and visited with her and her boyfriend. it was a lot of fun but when we got home, we realized that we had accidentally left the garage door open and our dogs had gotten out. dadi searched the complex for them but didn't find them. some girls said that the pound had gotten them so we called and sure enough they were there. they wouldn't allow us to come and pick them up so we had to wait until the following day to bail them out of doggy jail. it sucked. it cost us almost $400.00 to get them out. we were not too happy about that but what could we do? also, Jedi, our boxer, was hurt somehow and he was limping for a couple of days but seems to be better now. he also had a black eye. actually it's the doggy equivalent to a black eye. when dogs have trauma to their face (eye area) the whites of their eyes get bloody looking and basically it's the same thing as getting a black eye like we would (the vet dadi used to work for told me this). so a dumb mistake cost us $400.00 and got one of our dogs roughed up. we've been kicking ourselves ever since.
on Friday i headed out for baby G's 2 week appointment. this was my first outing with both kids by myself. i was a little nervous but i did really well considering the doctors office double booked all their appointments that day and i had to wait for two hours before we were even seen by the doctor!!! yes, two full hours!! it was very hard keeping moma entertained in the lobby with all the other patients. i was praying for them to just give us an exam room so that she could be confined and not get so distracted by all the other kids in the lobby. everything looked good with baby g. he gained back his birth weight so it looks like he's getting enough milk from me. his circumcision is healing well and he's doing really good over all. he's such a cutie. i just love him. Saturday, Sunday and today have been low key. haven't done much. dadi and moma went to church on Sunday and i was supposed to use that time to sleep, but it didn't work out. i will probably go to church next week.
anyways, that's it. just been hanging out and getting used to being a mom of two. it's easier because i know what to do this time around, but it's harder because i don't get as much free time to sleep or clean or take care of myself. i know it will get better though. the first month is the hardest and then it gets easy. when you're trying to establish breastfeeding, it takes a lot of time and effort. i was only able to breast feed moma for five months and it left me really sad and disappointed because my milk just dried up. so I'm trying really hard to do everything right so that i get a good milk supply established and maintain it. alright, that's it. i have some pictures to post, but the camera is down stairs so I'll have to download them another time.
