Today we took a drive out to nana and papa's house. it takes about an hour and a half wih no traffic. they hadn't seen the baby yet. they loved him of course. who wouldn't?? we picked some grapes from their yard and took them home. they're green seedless grapes. they're very small so i kept telling moma they were just her size. they're very sweet but small. they don't get big because they're all natural. i love grapes. i guess it takes many years for grape crops to be sweet. they have had their grapes for about 20 years. i remember when i was a kid, they were so sour. most of them were sour on a bunch with a few nice ones. now, they are all yummy sweet. there were a ton of bees around the vines as i picking them and i have to say, i am a bit of a sissy when it comes to bees. I'm not one of those people that goes running screaming away at one little bee, but there were a lot of them and i was afraid i would grab one on a vine and be stung. both of my parents are allergic to bee stings and so far i have yet to be stung to see if they passed that lovely allergy on to me. i really hope i never have to find out. my nana on the other hand wasn't bothered by the bees at all and proceeded to swat them away with her bare hand to clear a path for me. yikes!! she's buff. this is the same women that got stung by a scorpion two months ago and didn't even notice until her foot started swelling up ridiculously. the doctor is the one that told her it was a scorpion sting. anyways, we had a nice visit. they're getting older and it was nice to be able to see them. i wish the lived closer. the traffic going out to where they live can be horrendous so i try to avoid it during times when i think it will be bad like around holiday's, weekends or when the roads are being worked on. i figured i was safe today and i was. i made really good time. anyways. why is it that kids never "preform" when you want them to? i was so excited to have moma show off all her new talents, like singing the ABC's and saying smart funny things, but instead, she decided to be shy and when she wasn't being shy, she was acting like a royal pain in the you know what. most people say that she is really well behaved for a two and half year old, but today she was a rotten little thing. i was getting very frustrated. you know how it is. you want your kids to be well behaved so that people think you're this super amazing parent and instead they decide to be little maniacs. i can't tell you how many times i have heard parents say to me "i swear he/she never acts like this" i always thought. "yeah right... your kids a punk" but today i was one of those moms. i so bad wanted to say "i swear she never acts this way", but i kept it to myself. hopefully they realize she is going through that horrible terrible two's stage and forgive her bad behavior. every mom should get a million dollars for dealing with two year olds. seriously, it wasn't that bad, but she just would not listen to me and i was getting so upset. i wanted to lay the smack down on her but that's child abuse and i don't go for that. my papa would have made her go out and "pick a switch" like the olden days. for those of you that didn't have southern families, that means to go out in the yard and pick a tree branch so your parents can whip you with it. i heard the trick is actually to pick a larger branch because they don't sting as much as the smaller ones. crazy. i couldn't imagine being beaten like that. I'm so glad that times have changed and we don't do those things anymore (or at least we shouldn't).
So that was my day today. moma is still acting crazy and won't take a nap since she slept for a whopping 22 minutes in the car on the way home. today of all days, a 22 minute nap is not a good thing. oh... give me strength to last the rest of the night (alone because mister studly has band practice).

Don't ya just love those days! Trust me, once she gets closer to three, everything changes. Scott and I were just talking about that the other day, how great R is now and how much she has changed in the last year.
That's exactly how the grapes are on my grandma's vines.
