Twilight Party

Today was my "cousin" K's birthday. She turned the BIG 3-0! So in celebration of her day, we had a Twilight viewing party. It was a fun night. I love having parties.

I made these fun apple shaped chocolate pops and I made them sparkle with edible sparkle powder. Now, the party was Twilight themed, remember. So the apple is because the book cover has the apple on it and I made them sparkle because Edward sparkles in the sun. I'm clever!

I made the cake and it was my first attempt at a fondant cake. I ran into a scary moment when the entire top layer broke into three pieces. I was sort of sweating it but I figured that once I covered it with the fondant and chocolate, it would be okay.

I poured the chocolate on and crossed my fingers. It actually turned out to work in my favor that the cake cracked in three because it created nice grooves for the chocolate to run down. I wanted the cake to go with the red black and white theme. I also wanted the red chocolate, to look like blood since we were watching a vampire movie after all!

Here's what it looked like from the side. It didn't turn out quite as I had imagined in my head, but it was okay. I was expecting a big blob so what I got was much better than a big blob.

I made chicken ravioli's with a blush sauce (marinara sauce with cream mixed in) and salad and home made bread sticks. The bread sticks were great. I will have to post the recipe, I am just waiting for permission since I got the recipe from some one else.
The guests enjoying their "italiano" meal.

More guests and the birthday girl!

We played the funniest game ever. My friend, Jamie, told me about it and so I adapted it to go along with the movie. I got a big poster of Edward and put it on the wall. Then we played "plant the kiss on the vampire". I wasn't sure if everyone would participate if we had to actually kiss the poster, so I decided we would put lipstick on two of our fingers and then try and touch closest to his lips. It was really funny.

I blindfolded them, put the lipstick on their fingertips and the spun them around a few times and let them loose.

Everyone was good sports about it.

Here I am applying lipstick to my Aunt's fingertips.

And here is the end result.
The two closest to his lips won a button. One said "Team Edward" and the other said "I like boys who sparkle"

After dinner, cake and presents, we all settled in to watch the movie.
It was a fun night and I hope every one had a nice time. I want to have a girls night again soon!
Happy Birthday K!!!!
And a big thanks to my dear sweet mister studly for letting me have the party and kicking him out with the kids for the evening. It was great!
