new airport scanners

Okay so does this freak anyone else out a little bit? in case you haven't heard, they have installed new security scanners at LAX and JFK which lets a person in another room see under your clothes to check for weapons or anything stashed away. now the image that is shown is not a full on naked body image. it's black and white and a little distorted, but you can definitely make out certain cracks and crevices on the body and I'm not just talking about your butt crack! the demo ones that they are showing on the news right now show a person stripped down to their underwear (which i have an issue with a stranger seeing my underwear as I'm sure most of you reading this would have the same concerns). i don't know if they just showed this image on the news for privacy purposes, but when they first were talking about introducing these machines a few months ago they couldn't even show the picture to us on the news without blocking out certain parts because the machine penetrated beneath just the first layer of clothes. the woman that volunteered herself to go through the machine said that it showed more than just your underwear including nipples and other personal pieces of your body. the people that are asked to go through the body scanners are picked at random and you do have the option to be patted down instead of entering the scanner. i just really hope that when i fly next time that i am not picked to be one of those people. here's my next issue....... a few years ago i flew to Utah with a one way ticket. dadi was already there so we were going to just drive back together. i was waiting in line to go through security and when the TSA guy checked my ticket he said that i would be patted down and had me step aside. he told me that it was because i had a one way ticket and that any time i flew one way, i would have to go through the pat down screening process. so basically what happened was the following... a man went through my carry on items and pulled them out onto a table (displayed for everyone to see) including my underwear. meanwhile... a women had me stand with my arms and legs stretched out in front of the rest of the passengers waiting to go through security. she explained to me exactly what she was going to do before she did it. like.... "I'm going to place my hands on your legs now", etc. i was frisked in front of all these people standing in line and it was very embarrassing. she told me that she would use the backs of her hands to pat down my more private areas like in between my boobs and in between my legs (yes, right up there really close to the goods) now my issue isn't that i had to go through extra security. i would like for us to be as safe as possible while flying, but my issue was that her using the back of her hands didn't make any difference. a stranger was still putting her hands on me in places where i would rather not have them. even still this isn't the biggest issue for me. i wish they could have pulled me behind some type of screen or something offering me some privacy before i was touched in my naughty places by a complete stranger while one hundred more strangers watched. so basically we have two options if we are pulled aside for a security check.
Option #1- go through the scanner and have a stranger see your private areas and your underwear
Option #2- be felt up by a stranger in front of a bunch of other strangers

i really don't like either of those options and i was wondering if any of you readers had the same concerns? it's such a tricky thing. i definitely want us to be safe while flying and I'm glad that they have security checks and stuff but these two options just seems so invasive and that there has got to be another way. personally, i wouldn't mind being patted down by another women but i do think that they should take you behind a screen or something so that it's not on display for others to watch. what do you guys think about all this? please post a comment to let me know. the old me wouldn't have thought this a big deal as i'm sure most of society thinks it's not an issue, but the newer me does think it's an issue because i try to be modest and only show my goods and underwear to a certain few. what about you?

That's kind of extreme. I've never been patted down that way. We fly standby because my BIL works for Delta, so we get taken aside and searched and patted down every time we fly, even Jeremy, but I've never had that intense an experience. Yucky.

I've never had that happen, but I know I would hate it.

I don't like those options either!

At least I don't fly often.

Ummm....I'll choose patted down only if they hire really hot bodybuilder cowboys. I might not mind then.
