Sunday

So, today we stayed home from church. we had all the intentions to go, but the time kind of snuck up on us and then we decided we would just be late. then, i realized that i had no clean dresses for moma to wear and that dadi's church shirt and pants were wadded up in the bottom of the hamper. yes, i still need to do laundry. i have been posting i would do it for days now, but the few loads i got done were not church clothes so i didn't plan well and i kicked myself for it.
later in the day i got a very mean and retarded email from my ex-step father. my mom divorced him 6 months ago and i have not spoken to him in over a year since their seperation. he's nuts. he wanted to share "his side" of why him and my mom divorced so he proceeded to tell us (me and my sister) all of the reasons he is so perfect and and how the divorce was all our fault. i shouldn't have even read the 18 page email (yes, 18 pages). i should have seen where he was going and just deleted it, but curiosity got to me. he basically bashed my entire family from my deceased grand father all the way down to moma and said how perfect he is and how perfect his family is. again, he's nuts. he called me arrogant and ill-mannered because i had the nerve to disagree with him on occasion. he believes that you should respect your elders no matter what and me speaking my mind or disagreeing with him when he made a racial or sexist comment was being disrespectful. all that said, he ended the letter very interestingly. he said that he didn't care if he ever talked to or saw us ever again. i find it very odd that HE is the one contacting us to say these things. in fact neither me nor my sister has spoken to/seen him in over a year since my mom first left him (because he is nuts). so after the email- this is the really funny part... he adds a random "P.S." and says he really appreciated the BBQ sauce that dadi and i brought home from Hawaii for him a few years ago. He said that we must have put a lot of "thought" into it. (he is being sarcastic). and finishes the 18 pages email by saying that we "insulted" him by buying such a lame gift. that he is worth more than a little bottle of BBQ sauce and it just goes to show how little we appreciated him.
i feel like writing him back and telling him all of the reasons he is such an idiot. that he needs counseling and medication because he's nuts. that he is just trying to get a rise out of us and hurt my mom and my family. that he is immature, lonely and a sad old man and that he will never be happy unless he has a wife to control and walk all over. i want to tell him that he should pay for a mail order bride because that will be the only way he will ever be happy. that his family is far from perfect. that he is far from perfect or mature which is evident in the 18 page bashing email he sent to us. but most importantly, i want to email him and ask him what the heck was so wrong with the BBQ sauce?? I mean we were in Hawaii and saw pineapple BBQ sauce. he likes BBQ'd meat so we thought it would be a nice sauce for him to try. maybe he was upset because we bought my dad macadamia nut pancake mix. maybe he wanted the pancake mix? I'm just not sure. I'm so sorry that we "insulted" him by buying him the BBQ sauce. that was never our intention. Of course, i will never email my ex-stepdad a response to his crazy ramblings, but it is fun to think of all the stuff that i would LIKE to say to him. maybe one day, he will receive a package in the mail filled with all different types of BBQ sauce from an anonymous sender. maybe that's how i will get my ultimate revenge. I'm sure a case of BBQ sauce will be just enough to send him over the edge. it could be the biggest "insult" i could ever imagine to give him.
okay, so that was me venting a little bit. of course, i will never do or say anything to him. that's exactly what he wants. he wants to hurt us and in return, hurt my mom. I'm so glad she is out of his crazy nut bag control. what a moron. i do feel sad for him though. it's weird how some one can be so mean to you and instead of having a feeling to retaliate, you just want to pray for them and hope they can find happiness. i am glad that i can recognize that instead of feeling major hurt or anger. there was a time in my life i would have responded with a nasty email back or maybe a drive to his house to yell at him and tell him exactly what i thought. but i have grown up a lot in the past few years and I'm so thankful that i have the patience and self control to try and be the better person. i owe that to my husband who is always so calm and level headed. he has taught me a lot about controlling my emotions. he has rubbed off on me i guess. it's also because of the faith that i have. i am quicker to forgive than to retaliate. i let things slide much more often. i am by no means perfect, but i have grown a lot and when things like this happen, it shows me a lot about the person i have become and i have to say I'm a little bit proud of myself.
One last little thing though... if dadi or i ever get you a gift that you think is lame, please don't be insulted by it. we don't mean to buy lame gifts. it's just part of who we are! we're lame!

I have had emails like that before and they aren't fun. More power to you for not responding.

I never liked your mom's ex husband. I always thought he was a jerk. I'm glad you didn't respond, cause that's what he wanted for you to do, he wanted to provoke you. good job Cory!

BBQ sauce! How lame! What were you guys thinking??? :)
I'm glad your mom doesn't have someone that negative and crazy in her life anymore. Obviously by him writing you an 18 page email, HE is the one that hasn't moved on from the relationship.

what a smart way of reacting. good job, cory! any kind of response would have just given him ammo for this next novel/email. i know people like that (my own dad, for example), and they're just not worth any of our time.
