Bunco and Birthday's

On Saturday we were supposed to take the kids to get pictures done, but thumper woke up with a swollen eye. it was totally weird. it wasn't goopey or red, just swollen. i thought it may have been because he was laying on that side (on his belly) when i went in to get him in the morning. Sometimes mister studly and moma get a little puffy eyed in the morning. i was just concerned since it was the one eye, but it slowly went down during the day and i did not take him to the doctors. by night time, it was back to normal. so we did not get to go have pictures done which stunk because that was supposed to be the birthday present for my dad and step mom. they both had birthday's last week. so Sunday we went to church and then in the evening, my dad and step mom came over for dinner. i was going to make lobster tails but my grocery store sold out of them in like two seconds on Friday. they had an 8 hour sale on lobster tails and by the time i was able to get to the store, they had been sold out for hours! but luckily, i had 4 Cornish game hens in my freezer and i made those. they were pretty good and all four of them cost less that 6 bucks total which was less that one single lobster tail so i guess it all worked out. i put a rub on them of fresh garlic, chili powder, butter and salt and pepper and then i stuffed them with whole garlic cloves and onion for extra flavor. they turned out pretty well. I'm sorry but stuffing a bird is so nasty. i felt totally gross stuffing the garlic and onion up the hens keester. it's really a violation if you ask me. i know that it's dead and all, but it's still totally disgusting. and it's really hard to consume something after you've shoved things into it's butt!! Anyways, dinner was good. for dessert, i sort of got creative and made these little individual pies. I made pie crust, then cut out small circles and put it on top of the back side of a muffin tin. i baked them and popped them off to make little tiny bowls. after they were cool, i melted chocolate inside the bottom and let it harden. then i put sliced strawberries in them and whipped cream on top. they were pretty good. On Tuesday night, i had some of the girls over for bunco. some of the girls were asking to start it up again (after three years) and so i decided i would. i got twelve payers and i made some food and had them over last night to play. i don't know where the luck was, but it sure wasn't with me. i could not roll worth a darn last night. i was getting a little frustrated. the dice just did not like me i guess. anyways, the girls had fun and so did i. I'm glad we've started it back up again. it's a fun thing to look forward to each month. today, i watched the shop for a bit for mister studly and then he left to go snow boarding with his friend. they did the night session so they won't be home until later tonight which means that i will be awake until late since i can't fall asleep if he's not home. on Friday, we are going up to the mountains for the weekend. our friend lives there and her neighbors have a cabin they rent out. so we're going to go and stay in the cabin. it's super cheap!! only 40 per night. that's insanely cheap for where we're going. it should be fun. mister studly will snowboard on Friday night and then we will spend all the rest of the weekend together as a family and have diner with our friends on Saturday night. it should be really fun. I'm looking forward to it. my grandma used to live in idylwild and i miss having a cabin to go to in the winter and summers. she sold it about ten years ago because it was becoming too much for her to be out in the mountains by herself and stuff. i miss it soooo much though. it was in our family for years and i loved it. so being out in the mountains in a cabin will bring back warm fuzzy memories for me. one of my favorite things in my grandmas cabin when i was a kid was to go out and play in the snow with my cousins and then come in and put our feet up in front of the fire to thaw them out. it would hurt so good (if you know what i mean) to have our frozen feet thaw out in front of my grandmas old fireplace. my grandpa "e" used to have all the animals trained. he would stand out side for hours and train the wild birds, squirrels and raccoons to come up to him and he could feed them with his hand. he was such a patient man. and no offense to my grandma, but he kind of had to be a patient man to be married to her for as long as he did!! she's a blazing fireball!
