That's what Moma will be doing for the next few weeks!!
Flippin' The Bird!
Today was my very first experience as a mom with a child with a broken bone.
Here's the culprit.....
During the move, we weren't able to get everything into the POD storage thingy so we had to take a few things with us to Utah. One of them was Moma's play house. She seriously loves this thing. It was a gift from "Santa" and my mom and her boyfriend for Christmas. G and her play in it a lot. That's the key word here... they play IN it.
But not lately. Lately Moma has been climbing the thing and sitting on the roof. It's a 2 piece roof and not meant for climbing. We've all been yelling at the kids to get off the dang thing (her cousin R has been climbing too) for a few days now. Mister Studly yelled at them a few days ago and said that the roof would collapse if they were up there.
And that's exactly what it did.
The two pieces came apart and both kids flipped inside the house down to the ground. I was actually standing right by the door and about to go check on them when I heard the crash. I ran outside to find both kids and the roof on the floor in the middle of the playhouse.
R was okay. Just a scratch on his elbow but Moma was not. She was crying and crying and crying and then she started sweating really bad from all the crying. She had a cut on her finger and it was bleeding. She was freaking out kind of bad but she also just freaked out like a crazy person at the allergist a few weeks ago so I didn't think much of it, only that she was being dramatic. But then the crying didn't stop and the swelling started. All while we're trying to get her calmed down, my sister in law, Ari was watching it closely and when it started to swell we started getting nervous. Then it started to get a weird bump on the side and look kind of twisted. Then it started turning a weird green color. So I called Mister Studly (who is Cali while I'm in Utah right now) and he said that it might be broken. So after a few more minutes and some more tears (by this time, I swear it had been like 30-40 minutes), Ari said we should probably get it x-rayed. So she and I and Moma jumped in the car for the E.R.
I was so happy Ari came with us. She was a life saver. Moma loves her so much and it was nice for me to have the support. For instance... she held and consoled Moma and wiped away the tears while I took pictures with my camera phone and posted them to facebook. And she helped her stay calm by offering up her phone so she could watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, while I was texting Mister Studly, my Mom and my Sister with all the details.
See what I mean... She was a life saver.
How else was I going to be able to text and post pics to facebook with a crying kid on my lap??
Some things are just really important you know??
Anyways... here's Moma after her x-rays....
And here she is after they cleaned the wound and put her finger into a splint... (there's Ari holding and comforting her while I took pictures)
We're supposed to try and have her relax for a few days. Yeah right!!!! She is a maniac! All she wants to do is play and be rough and crazy. She says she feels fine and just wants to play.
There is no keeping this girl down either. She is crazy!!!
So somewhere during the evening, she knocked her finger and moved the splint out of place so I had to unwrap it and bandage it before bedtime.
Here's what it looks like. Not too bad. The bandaid is covering the cut part and basically where it is kind of crooked and broken.
And here she is icing it before bed.
So after all is said and done today.... I just have to say that it could have been worse. Moma's happy and running and playing.
I tried to teach Moma the lesson in all this but I don't think she gets it.
I'm going to quiz her on it tomorrow. Tonight I just hope she sleeps.
Tylenol Codeine... please be good to my little girl.
