Olallieberry Pie
Have you ever had fresh Olallieberry pie?? (oh-la-la-berry) Well... if you haven't had it (or even heard about it) let me tell you all about it. It's a berry that looks sort of like a black berry. it is only in season for 2-3 weeks a year and it's freakin' delicious. Dadi loves olallieberry pie and always would talk about it for years and years. I am not a fan of cooked fruit pies. i like fresh peach and fresh strawberry pie, but that's about it as far as fruit pies go. so last year he remembered that it was olallieberry pie season and i went to pick one up. I didn't realize it, but it's not a cooked pie. it's a fresh pie. It was the best pie ever!! so yesterday Marc and Ari were driving into town and Marc asked if it was the season for it. dadi said that he wasn't sure so we called Marie calendar's and sure enough the ollieberry pies were in so he went and picked one up. they're through the end of the month so go and get one if you've never had it before. it's like the best berry you will ever eat and none of them are bitter. you know how you eat berries and you'll get a couple that are sweet and the rest are more bitter or tangy tasting? well all of the berries in an olallieberry pie are perfectly ripe and sweet. so remember it's not a cooked fruit pie, it's a fresh pie so it's served like a fresh strawberry pie with a yummy glaze and whipped cream. it's so yummy. you have to try it- you must! again..... it's only in season for a couple weeks a year so it's something you have to take advantage of. some markets don't carry it so you'll have to check with your local pie stores if you live out of state. us Californians are lucky enough to have it available to us. they are a little pricey... $14.49 for one at Marie calenders, but it's worth it. it's just so yummy!! go and get yourself a olallieberry treat today and make sure that it's the fresh olallieberry pie and not cooked. they do serve it cooked in some areas but for a real experience, you have to get it fresh with the glaze and whipped cream NOT COOKED!!! i hope you enjoy. also, if you don't mind.. can you please comment on this post? i would like to know who has tried it before or if you were like me and had never even heard about it. it will change your life. okay, not really, but it sure will make you happier for a little while at least.

I have never ever heard of that kind of pie!
I've heard of that berry but never had the pie. I love berries of all kinds, so it sounds delish!
