Random Thought Thursday

Today's Random Thought Thursday is all about Rabbit Poop Pellet Ice.

You know that ice that you get at some restaurants and convenience stores that is in pellet form? It looks like cold clear rabbit poop. They have it at my local Sam's Club. You can buy a soda for super cheap there and fill up your cup with the special ice. The rabbit poop kind. It's the BEST ice ever and I highly recommend it . Whenever I go to Sams Club and fill up my cup with the pellet ice, I always find myself getting into a conversation with some random stranger about how wonderful the pellet ice is. Everyone agrees with me. We sit there and talk about the ice for like a full two minutes. One time I even had a lady tell me of all the convenience stores in the area that have the pellet ice machines in their stores. Yep.. She actually listed them for me. So obviously there is something magical about this ice for people to have full on 2 minute conversations about it and to create memorized lists of all the stores in the entire state that carry it. It's just delicious. The best part is, when you're done with your drink, it sort of melts all together and it's almost like eating a Coke flavored snow cone. I don't understand why more stores don't carry it.
Every one loves it. It's the BEST.
Cubed ice is for punks. Those flat on one side, curved on the other side ice is for chumps. And don't even get me started on round ice with the holes in the middle. **shudder**

So that's today's Random Thought Thursday. And if you have no idea what Rabbit Poop Pellet Ice is, I feel very sorry for you. You're missing out. Call me and I'll meet you at Sam's Club for a Rabbit Poop Pellet Ice soda. We can talk to strangers about it! It will be fun!

Random Thought Thursday

I'm keeping my Random Thought Thursday short and sweet today...

Why does my daughter have to change her clothes 500 times a day?? I know a lot of kids go through this phase but it's really annoying. I'm constantly doing laundry and finding some random skirt that she hasn't worn in months in there because one day she decided to put it on for a whopping 5 minutes and then put it in her hamper to be washed.  It's really annoying and I don't understand it. Why do kids do this? Why can't they just be happy with the first outfit they put on. Why?? Whhhhyyyy???????
SO ANNOYING!

Random Thought Thursday

So todays random thought is.....

Why do husbands never listen to us wives when we suggest something??

They just don't listen. But if their friends mention it or they some how, weeks later, forget that you've mentioned it and then think it's their really awesome original idea, it's the best idea ever!!

Yeah, you know.. that same exact idea that I had weeks ago, which Mister Studly now thinks is a wonderful idea and that he some how came up with. That kind of thing. This has happened quite a bit in our marriage.
It goes a little bit like this...

The first incident happened about 9 years ago.

Me: Honey.... Let's go to Hawaii. I really think you would like it!
Him: I don't want to go to Hawaii. We have beaches here. Plus you know how much I hate the heat and the sand!
Me: But Hawaii is NOT like our beaches at all. It's beautiful. I really think you would love it.
Him: I don't think so. Let's go to Mammoth instead for vacation this year.
Me: Whatever!!! but I really do think you'd love it.

Flash Forward 2 years.

Mister Studly is talking to his friend on the phone. His friend is going to Hawaii and tells Mr Studly how awesome it is and that we should join them. They hang up the phone after talking about Hawaii some more and Mr Studly comes to me and says....

Him: Hey! Guess what! Our friends are going to Hawaii and they want us to come. It sounds so much fun. He was telling me about all these nice places to stay and all the things to do. I really think it would be fun. Do you want to see if you can get time off from work and go?
Me: (fuming)  I have been asking you to go to Hawaii for two years and you always say no!  Now because your friend wants to go, you want to go? I thought you didn't like the heat and the sand???? I thought we had beaches here???
Him: Yeah... ummmmm. Well... I was talking to my friend and he thinks we would have a really fun time.
Me: Ummmm....  You mean like I have been telling you for the last 2 years!!!!! Why is it all of the sudden such a great idea?? I've been wanting to go forever!
Him: Do you want to go or not?
Me: YES!!!!!!

So we go and it ends up being Mister Studly's favorite place in the whole world and we have gone nearly every year since. So technically if he had just listened to me in the first place, we could have had two extra years of Hawaiian vacations.

Did he learn his lesson?? Does he listen to me now?? BIG FAT NO!!!

We have been trying to think of something very inexpensive to do for vacation this year. Mister Studly's parents are coming to watch the kids soon and we still don't know exactly what we're planning on doing. We want it to be cheap. We don't care where we go just as long as we're together without kids and having one on one time.

Two Weeks Ago...

Me: Hey... Why don't we just go to Mammoth for the week? It will be cheap and even though the lakes won't be open, we will still have a lot of fun just hanging out.
Him: Oh.... I don't know... I really don't want to go to Mammoth if we can't fish.
Me: Okay we'll think of something else.

Today:

Mister Studly calls me....
Me: Hello??
Him: Hey! I just had a great idea!!
Me: What is it??
Him: Let's just go to Mammoth for vacation! I know the lakes won't be open but it will still be fun. We can just hang out and go in the jacuzzi and stuff. How does that sound??
Me: I think it sounds great!! In fact..... I think it sounded great when I mentioned it 2 WEEKS AGO!!!!

So why is it that husbands just can't listen to us wives? It totally baffles me. We've been married over ten years. You'd think he'd learn his lesson by now! I'm always right. DUH!!!!

Random Thought Thursday

Today is my very first Random Thought Thursday. Are you excited to get a glimpse into my crazy brain?? I know you are!

Today's randomness is all about artichokes.....

I love artichokes. I think they are so tasty! A lot of people don't understand the artichoke. They don't know how to cook them or how to eat them or what to dip them in. It can all be pretty confusing. I mean..... whenever I eat one, I can't help but think "Who was the first person to eat an artichoke???" Think about it. It's this weird flower looking thing that opens up and blooms into a giant purple flower. But you can't eat it at that stage. You have to eat it while it's still somewhat closed. Then you take it and you steam the crap out of it because it's so dang tough and steaming the crap out of it is the only way to make it edible. So after you've steamed the crap out of it. You put on a plate. Then you have to figure out your dipping sauce because eating it plain is just not acceptable. So you melt a little butter in a dish, maybe you spritz a little lemon juice on the artichoke. Some people like mayo. I am a mayo mixed with garlic salt girl myself. It's delicious. But my point is that you drench it in all this fattening stuff in order to make it taste good. So do I really like artichokes, or is it the sauce that I like? Should I just save myself the $2.00 and eat some garlic mayo on a spoon instead? I don't know.
So anyways, you get your dipping sauce ready and you sit down at the table to eat it. I like to have a paper plate ready to catch all the nasty half eaten leaves. Yes.. that's right. Half eaten. Because you can't eat the whole thing! You pick off each leaf and proceed to scrap the soft part off the leaf with your teeth. Then you throw the discarded half eaten nasty looking leaf on a plate for every one to see.
SIDE NOTE: I hate seeing the imprint my teeth leave in the leaf. It really shows me just how crooked my teeth are and I remember all those years of braces and pain and rubber bands and I think "Wow... my teeth have really become crooked again!" and then I get depressed.
So after you've picked off all the half eaten leaves. You're ready to get down to the best part of the artichoke. But getting to the best part is tough because you have to deal with all these really weird little hairy things. So you get a spoon and you start scraping away the hair. The hair almost always will get stuck on my fingers some how and that drives me crazy and gives me the creeps. After all the tiny hairs have been put onto my paper plate with all the half eaten nasty leaves, I'm ready to dig into the "heart" of the artichoke. It's the best part but it just took me 45 minutes to get to this part and a whopping three bites later...... it's gone. I have to ask myself... Was it really worth all this effort? The answer my friends is yes. Yes it really is worth it.
But I do wonder..... who was the first person to eat an artichoke? How did he or she know how to cook it? Once they figured out how to cook it, how did they figure out how to eat it? It's really quite a long tedious process, you know?

My grandma used to grow artichokes in her yard. She let some of them open into the big purple flower then she let it dry out and arranged them into a vase that she uses as a decoration in her bathroom. You would never realize that that beautiful dried flower arrangement is actually just a bunch of dried up artichokes!!!
